This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax Assistant to join a growing, successful Chartered Accountancy practice based in Bury.  There is plenty of scope for progression if required into senior roles for the ambitious candidate. 

This role would suit someone who is looking to join a friendly practice offering study support in addition to internal training.  Applicants should have previous experience of working in an accountancy practice and possess the ability to build relationships and work closely with clients, both by telephone and personal visits.

Essential requirements:  The successful Tax Assistant will have:

  • Previous experience of working in an accountancy practice

  • AAT qualification

  • Experience of dealing with personal tax (essential) and corporation tax (preferred)

  • The ability to build relationships with clients

  • Experience using Digita software (not essential)

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels

  • Microsoft Office and IT knowledge, especially Excel

  • A confident personality with the ability to ask for help if required

  • Working with medical practices would be an advantage but not essential.

The duties of the Tax Assistant are:

  • To ensure personal and corporate tax compliance is met

  • Liaise with clients to acquire all necessary documentation

  • Complete and submit tax returns to HMRC

  • Prepare and submit P11Ds to HMRC

  • Some payroll preparation using Sage

  • Tax planning for clients

  • Additional ad-hoc duties as required.

Salary: £18,000 to £24,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Benefits:  Free car parking; 28 days holidays including Bank Holidays, with the ability to build up 1 extra day per month additional leave.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm - flexible

This role would suit someone with previous experience as: Tax Assistant, Personal Tax Assistant, Tax Technician, Tax Consultant, Financial Accounts Assistant, Accounts Semi-Senior.
