Engineering Development Specialist

Position Description:
We have been engaged by our client to recruit a multi-skilled Engineering Development Specialist in order to implement an automated product handling system. The system will consist of conveyors in a large distribution centre, responsible for supplying to a global market. The role will be reporting into the main Project Manager and will be a project last around 10 years. This role requires oversees travel.
Essential Skills:
- Relevant experience of supply chain network concept and design
- Relevant experience of working with, and maintaining, automated equipment (conveyors, robots, cranes, lifts, shuttles, etc.)
- Excellent awareness of latest mechanical handling equipment and technology and their suppliers
- Strong PC skills on Microsoft packages, as well as relevant experience of design software and warehouse management system software
- Confident, professional and persuasive people skills from routinely dealing with senior managers, engineers and contractors
- Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload, working to deadlines, whilst remaining calm under pressure
- Analytical skills and ability to translate complex data and technical specifications into clear information for managers
Desirable:
- Qualifications and training to an equivalent of Level 6 or above. (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations (OFQUAL)). Typically Graduate-level or similar qualifications (e.g. Mechanical Engineering Degree, Degree Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline). Level 6 Diplomas or Certificates
- CI qualification, Lean & Six Sigma to at least a Green Belt standard
- Understanding of computer programming and software development
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
Experience Required:
You must have experience of a similar project concerning automation
You must have experience of setting up a large distribution centre or supply chain
