They are currently seeking a Nightshift Warehouse Manager for their depot located in Derbyshire. The position is permanent.
Reporting into the Operations Controller, the successful candidate will manage the nightshift operations at the depot. Supported by a team of 3 Nightshift Warehouse Supervisors and three Team Leaders, you will manage a team of around 35 staff. The purpose of the role is to manage the team on a nightly basis, delivering excellence in service to the customer, whilst meeting operational and financial objectives within a fast moving temperature controlled environment.
The nightshift hours are from 14.30pm to 5.00am. Your individual shift hours will vary on a weekly basis between those times and between you and the Nightshift Supervisors you will ensure that management cover of the shift is in place. There will be a requirement for you to attend meetings on days at various times.
Specifically, you will manage, support and motivate the 30+ shift operations personnel loading around 30 vehicles each night to achieve daily output objectives and deliver shift KPI's.
You will ensure that all picking and consolidation operations scheduled during the shift are completed to the time deadlines set and to ensure those operations are carried out in an accurate, controlled and detailed manner to facilitate a quality service to our customers by means of the delivery routes leaving on time with the correct products at the correct temperatures.
You will manage the night shift in a positive, service focused and professional manner.
You will ensure a safe working environment for your shift and to pass on to other shifts.
You will ensure that all orders are picked in accordance with company policies and procedures.
You will follow company protocols and procedures relating to the handling of temperature sensitive products.
You will ensure that all invoicing and route paperwork is completed in accordance with the route schedule.
You will ensure that vehicles depart on time in accordance with the routing schedule.
You will recruit, train and develop staff both for new positions and for succession planning.
You will ensure that all product consolidations are completed on time in accordance with loading schedules.
You will ensure that the required standards of housekeeping are maintained at all times.
You will manage the loading of delivery vehicles to ensure that routes are loaded in the correct sequence.
You will identify training needs within the team to ensure all staff are multi skilled and will develop the Nightshift Supervisors and Team Leaders.
You will ensure clear and documented shift handovers.
You will clearly understand issues with productivity/accuracy/issues documented.
You will ensure daily briefings are conducted to the team on requirements and to regularly update the team on performance issues.
You will ensure effective management of temporary / agency labour and the associated costs.
You will ensure that all staff are fully conversant with and committed to compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
You will ensure effective communication through team briefing, formal handovers and documentation
You will maintain accurate records on WMS.
You will ensure proper controls and systems are in place for effective, but constructive absence management.
You will ensure effective forward planning, ensuring efficient running of the operation, communicated to the whole team.
Finally, you will ensure minimal disruption to the operation with the down time of equipment, finding the most cost effective way to manage the situation.
Knowledge and Skills:
To succeed, you should have nightshift warehouse supervisory / management experience within a fast moving wholesaling / retail distribution environment, ideally gained within the foodservice sector.
Demonstrating good leadership, communication and motivational skills, you will be responsible for the planning and organizing of all nightshift warehouse activities and managing all nightshift warehouse staff.
You should have a good record of warehouse experience, coupled with a sound grasp of current practice and health and safety legislation.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential. You should be self-motivated, someone who can coach and inspire others with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities.
Voice WMS technology experience would be a great advantage.
You should be experienced in change management.
You will be a problem solver with a common sense approach and will be self-motivated, committed to being the best and proactive in delivering improvements.
You will be flexible in approach and able to adapt quickly to change and have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities.
You should possess strong pc skills and have an understanding of WMS and Stock Control.
You should ideally have licenses to operate PPT, reach and counter balance trucks.
You will be a motivated self-starter with strong team building principles.
You will be flexible and committed to providing excellence in all aspects, with a keen eye for detail.
You should be able to demonstrate a pro-active approach when planning and able to react to day to day challenges.
Ideally you will be someone who has aspirations for career progression.
Basic salary will be in a range of between £32-35k depending upon experience. In addition, there is a bonus scheme in place.
