JMW Sees Tenfold Increase in Client Base as Recruitment Companies Tackle Complex Legal Challenges
National law firm JMW Solicitors has boosted its Employment team following a ten-fold increase in its recruitment client base as agencies tackle a range of complex legal challenges.
Recruitment agencies are handling several emerging concerns, on which clarity is essential in order to ensure compliance - for example, recent cases have raised questions around the calculation and correct payment of holiday pay, while HMRC has increased its focus on payment of the National Minimum Wage and GLAA activity in relation to gangmasters’ license holders.
Further strengthening its expertise, the JMW team has welcomed Emma James, who joins JMW from Brabners as a Senior Associate. Emma has more than eight years’ experience advising businesses on recruitment and employment law issues. She follows Paul Chamberlain, who also left Brabners in March this year, joining JMW as Head of Employment. The pair now work alongside Partner, Simon Bloch, a well-known recruitment industry legal expert.
Paul Chamberlain, Head of Employment at JMW Solicitors, said: “It’s great to have Emma on board; she is an expert in the recruitment field and will provide our clients with the very best advice and counsel. It’s also great to be back with Simon Bloch who has built a significant following over the last few years.
“We’ve seen a tenfold increase in recruitment clients as agencies tackle a range of complex issues, while dealing with the uncertainty around Brexit and the resulting impact. The recruitment industry is a competitive market, so it’s more important than ever for agencies to have the right legal support in place to ensure that any issues aren’t just dealt with efficiently, but to mitigate against future occurrences.
“For a growing recruitment business, it’s essential to have a legal team in place that is experienced in working within the sector and has the ability to handle very specific issues.”
