Bibby Financial Services comment on the PMI for the services sector.
Susan Farmer, Head of Recruitment Finance at Bibby Financial Services commented:
“The skills shortage is hindering growth for businesses in a variety of sectors, so it is positive to see recruitment intentions within the services sector are on the rise. However, our research shows that only a fifth of SMEs in the services sector invested in recruitment in Q2. Despite the good intentions, there remains a significant amount of work to be done if we’re to close the gap.
“The talent shortage is a substantial challenge that is likely to take time and investment to address, but many are holding back due to Brexit uncertainty. Employees are at the heart of any business and it is crucial that companies invest more to tackle this issue so that they are able to continue to grow.”
