CarmichaelUK Give & Gain Day - Charity Shop Challenge

On Friday the 20th May TEAM Member CarmichaelUK employees participated in the National Give & Gain Day Charity Shop Challenge. Over the last few weeks our employees have been preparing and planning for the event. The purpose of the day was to raise awareness and funds for the Spitalfields Crypt Trust, which continues to do fantastic work in the East London Community by offering support to the homeless and those recovering from substance abuse. Such was the notoriety of Give and Gain day the #giveandgain was trending across the country on social media.

Three teams were placed within the hustle and bustle of East London, tasked with increasing revenue and footfall through entertainment, food and drink.

Each of the teams took a number of different strategies but all with the same CarmichaelUK spirit and fun that was showcased throughout the day.

We have provided a report from all three stores and how they got on during the day.

Aldgate SCT Shop

In the Aldgate shop there was plenty of excitement and atmosphere in the area. Personal Assistant Amy and Professional & Technical Resourcer Kelly used their vivacious personalities to great effect, facilitating donations and bringing passers-by into the store. There members of the public were met with a warm welcome from Katie and Austen, offering drinks and delicious homemade cakes. Going for a bright Willy Wonka themed effort the oompa lompas certainly attracted a lot of positive attention for the shop.

Watney Market SCT Shop

The Watney Market shop, led by Scott used a Stormtrooper outfit to great effect, drawing customers in with his contagious positivity around the market. Members of the public were able to take selfies and enjoy some tasty snacks and treats offered by team members Sat, Isaac and Rhys who worked tirelessly to raise awareness for SCT. Renee matched and surpassed the lively market atmosphere and a great team effort ensured a vast number of people visited the store.

Bethnal Green SCT Shop

The Bethnal Green shop, led by Gustas, provided some fantastic musical entertainment. Sophie and Sally, the charity shop DJ’s for the day ensured that the general public knew that CarmichaelUK were present. Nostalgic classics such as S Club 7 and the Venga Boys provided a feel good factor to Bethnal Green. Gaile, a trades and labour resourcer had created a beautiful handmade tree print, where customers could imprint their own leaf onto the tree. This was enormously successful and the finished result (pictured below) will take pride of place within the Stratford office.

With the additional daily store revenue, combined with the internal fundraising takes the grand total raised to £1129.10. CarmichaelUK would like to thank all of those who have donated to their Virgin Giving page and visited the SCT stores. The donation site will remain open until the 27th May and you can support their efforts to increase this already fantastic total by clicking below.

A huge thank you to Spitalfields Crypt Trust for allowing CarmichaelUK to be a part of the charity. It was great to see that they were able to make a tangible contribution on the day.

Carmichael UK would like to finally thank all the employees who took part in the day, thoughts have already turned to next year and they look forward to supporting the Give &Gain initiative in the future.
