Job Title: Web Developer Location: Leicester Salary: £30,000This is a permanent role. Our client within the Welfare to work sector are looking for a Web Developer to join an exceptional team of people with a remarkable passion to make a difference. Overview: The role of the web developer is to work closely with the Website Manager and the external website platform owners and designers to ensure the optimum site performance. Duties: •Responsible for the the development (building) of new website content and tools with the core CMS •Responsible for maintaining and incrementally improving existing content and digital product area’s. •Responsible for adhoc coding and building of digital solutions to be linked to the main CMS. Responsible for design elements of the website including: - Creation of web page templates and making amendments to existing pages utilising HTML and CSS coding - Creating XForms and other website elements as per business requirements - Creating adhoc digital solutions that could be linked to the main CMS - Supporting the completion of tickets to continue incremental development of the website - Monitoring change logs and ensuring new platform releases are utilised to make best use of new functionality - Working with to ensure onsite support for the implementation of bespoke project delivery •Supporting the wider digital team in developing new functionality to the site dependant on business needs, providing best practice guidelines and information on technological capabilities that will enhance the user experience •Working with the Web Manager, Data Analyst and User Researcher to review site performance and to identify solutions that can be implemented in an Agile environment •Keeping up to date on the latest developments in software and bringing in-house specialism to enable future capability analysis and make recommendations in accordance with this •Delivering daily maintenance checks as part of a rota as directed by the Web Manager •Maintaining issues log and delivering fixes within appropriate timescales Priorities: •Delivering development work to budget and on time •Quality of the website •Quality of User Experience/business needs achieved •Service goals/ performance targets achieved •Effective use of governance structure Essential Skills & Qualities: •2 years Web design/coding experience •Extensive, in depth knowledge of programming, code design and OO •Experience of working in commercial software development •Experience of developing secure, scalable web software •Working in a team •Meeting deadlines, sometimes under pressure. •Taking responsibility for completing work to a high level of quality •Good written and verbal communication skills •Self-motivated and ability to make decisions •HTML and CSS coding experience •Scrum/Agile experience •Linux/Shell •Web security •Software/Web performance •Mobile development •Database design and performance •Test Driven Development •PHP •Apache •JavaScript •SQL Server •Git •Knowledge of the Welfare to Work sector is desirable These are the standard job terms however various flexible working options will be considered should they meet the needs of the business.
