Our client is looking for an experienced and flexible Support Engineer to join their Technical Sales Team.
Job description and key responsibilities
The role includes providing product support to the customer base; assisting the sales team with pre-sales activities, and being the local technical expert for the existing and future products in the company portfolio.
Additional responsibilities include designing and implementing product demonstrations, supporting customer acceptance tests, and occasionally providing hands on training for customer engineers. As new products and capabilities are introduced to the company portfolio, this person will need to gain expertise with any new technologies and assist the sales team in promoting them.
Product support activities will include responding to customer support requests and being their local point of contact – undertaking fault analysis and replication where possible. Where necessary, liaise with other members of the global Technical Sales Support team and R&D to identify and resolve product faults and implement temporary and permanent solutions.
Experience and skills
The successful candidate will have most or all of the following:
- ·Degree or equivalent in Telecommunications or a similar engineering field
- ·10 years experience with a telecom equipment vendor and/or network operator or equivalent experience
- · Hands on experience with access platforms (MSAN/DSLAM/Multiplexors)
- · Technical understanding of PDH/SDH/DSL/POTS/FTTx/Ethernet/IP
- · Experience with NMS systems, (UNIX and Windows)
- · Excellent written and spoken English
- · Team player and customer service orientation
Location
The job is based at the company’s UK offices in Hertford, but travel will be required on occasions to customer sites and for product training.
