Our client in Chertsey is looking for a Technical Bid Writer
Your primary responsibility will be writing high quality bid responses within the Marketing Team.Co-ordinating the bid response through good commercial and business acumen, developing and maintaining a knowledgeable base of answers and templates,as well as identifying ways to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of the bidprocess. An excellent communicator,you will be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholdersto ensure submissions are made on time and to thehigh standards.
You will have superb English writing, grammar, spelling and vocabulary, the ability to understand technical concepts and tender questionsand be able toprovide clear and concise responses whilst working to tight deadlines and challenging targets. As the ideal candidate for this job you should be able to write effective, concise and compelling content while under the pressure sometimes associated with deadlines. Have the skills to work within a team and to get accurate, high quality information from all bid stakeholders to produce bid material is essential.
REPORTING You will report to the Head of Sales & Marketing and work closely with the Business Development Managers, as well as consulting with the wider project teams and customers.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS•To manage,compile, edit and proofread proposals which contain technical content and designs,ensuring that these are presented in a professional and concise manner.• Determine the scope and requirements to meet the timelines of new bids. Lead and coordinate the preparation of those materials,ensuring contributors provide information on time,intoa completed bid document which meets MoD standards.• Develop your knowledge of the business, its products and services by reading and reviewing previous bid and design documents and spending time with engineering and marketing teams.• Ability to communicate to the wider team,customer expectations and timescales for delivery, Have a sound commercial understanding and experience of the full MoD tender process including DEFCONS,SSRO,DPQQs, ITTs and ITNs.• Work as part of across functional team where necessary to align bid requirements to gain maximum efficiencies for the Company, whilst ensuring deadlines can be met,sometimes at short notice.•Provide leadership and guidance to the bid team • Ability to produce and or update project / technical documentation to meet Company,MoD and other customer standards as part of a bid. •The experience/ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.•
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
•Adegree in engineering or its equivalent.
•Ability to question,think laterally and monitor multiple activities at once.
•Ableto understand technical engineering concepts and principles.
•Be organised, task orientated and have good time management skills.
•Excellent verbal and written skills, enthusiastic, adaptable and able to think outside the box.
•Ability to obtain government security clearance.
•Clean driving license.
•Ability to influence others, including senior stakeholders.
•Substantial experience using MS Office including Word, PowerPoint,Excel, Project, Visio.
•Experience of writing bids within the UK Maritime and Land Defence sectors.
•Proven bid team involvement.
•Can demonstrate effective bid writing skills
