Job Description

Job Title:  Software Developer

Business Unit & Location: Development, Glasgow

Reports to:  Software Development Manager

  • Purpose:  The Development team exists in the I.T. & Programmes Department with in.  The team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing software systems which include making changes to existing client processes or creating new features to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.  In addition the team are heavily involved in projects which brings new systems and services to the business using the latest technologies.

Role Definitions 

Primary Accountabilities and Deliverables:

  • To maintain and enhance current systems and services
  • To be creative and thoughtful in identifying potential new systems or services to enhance the business
  • Well documented and commented code
  • Provide technical expertise to internal/external stakeholders where required

Skills, knowledge & Expertise:

  • Windows Form Development
  • Website Development
  •  ASP.NET
  • Microsoft Visual Studio and TFS
  •  Knowledge of both C# and VB.NET and proficient in one
  • SQL Server Management Studio, 2008, 2012
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)


  • Responsible for making amendments to Client file import/export processes
  • Creating pre-processing routines for new clients on-boarding
  • Making required backend database changes to support new website/program features
  • Involvement in projects to bring new systems and services to the business
  • Testing and documenting code
  • Providing expertise and guidance in technical meetings with internal/external stakeholders

  • Creation of efficient and effective code that meet business requirements and team/company standards
  • Completion of tasks assigned via Development Tracking system within timescales agreed
  • Completion of tasks assigned via Project teams within timescales agreed
  • Experienced development background
  • Excellent team player and ability to work as a sole resource
  • You should be comfortable managing tight deadlines
  • You should be able to work on your own initiative
  • You should be an excellent communicator with an ability to liaise with people at all levels of the business
  • Subject to BS7858 screening
