Site HR Manager / HR Business Partner – £45-50k + benefits


An exceptional opportunity for a proven, ambitious senior HR professional to take their career to the next level in the heavy engineering / manufacturing sector.  This is a role in which you will be managing (within an established HR team) the day to day operational HR related matters at a senior level on site.  You are likely to be a graduate and CIPD qualified, experience must include a track record of managing and driving HR projects.  You will have proven experience of working with Unions and be sufficiently confident to challenge the status quo, influence improvements and proactively ensure we work in compliance with HR policies and procedures and above all, using best practice.  Behind every good HR team is a great leader – we are looking for someone with a can do attitude, a strong sense of urgency and the ability to manage a diverse and busy workload.  You will have a strong mindset for continuous development and improvement.


Main Responsibilities will include: (reporting to the Group HR Manager who works across several sites)

  • Acting as site lead for HR and the first point of contact
  • Deputise for the Group HR Manager on all HR matters as required
  • Managing HR Special Projects
  • Recruitment & Selection (Permanent and Contract staff) and liaison with external agencies and partners
  • Employee Engagement
  • Employee Relations and Communications and Consultation with Unions as required and as directed by Group HR
  • Appraisals and Performance Management
  • Employee Training & Development
  • Succession Planning
  • Attendance and Absence Management
  • Disciplinary & Grievance Management
  • Monthly reporting and data management


Applicant Requirements:

  • Degree + CIPD qualification, and / or qualified by experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership/senior HR advisory role
  • Experience in a fast paced manufacturing (or similar) facility
  • Experience of working with Unions
  • Excellent practical knowledge in terms of the application of employment law and business policies
  • Excellent people skills, a can do attitude, a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to manage a diverse and busy workload
  • A strong mindset for continuous development and improvement


About The Benefits:

Basic annual salary of c£50k + discretionary bonus (paid quarterly).  26 days leave plus 9 bank holidays.  Private healthcare and private dental insurance. Pension – employer will contribute up to 8%.  Other salary sacrifice schemes including childcare vouchers.
