Job Description
Our client is looking for someone who will support their ambition to deliver excellence and innovation from their factory investments and continuing operations.
Things you’ll be working on:
• Design and specify a new control and instrumentation philosophy for the upgraded factory
• Procure, manage the installation, and commission the control and automation system
• Design of a Safety Instrumented System for the upgraded factory
• Develop electrical, control and instrumentation standards for the factories
• Design and build of a central control room from which the entire process can be monitored and operated.
• Develop a process to automatically provide operational data to the relevant people to support continuous improvement and performance management
• Make recommendations for data collection systems and implement solutions to aid process understanding
• Be the owner of safe designs, relevant written procedures and safety enhancements in process and electrical installations
• Design relevant electrical safety systems including earthing and lighting protection, design for explosive atmospheres
• Coordinate a range of multi-disciplinary projects with other engineering and operations teams
• Assist in building the knowledge base for all the operations team to operate and work the factory in the most effective and efficient manner
• Support Production and Engineering leaders to build continuous improvement techniques across the operation
• Bring excellence in project management with a good deadline driven mentality to relevant projects; delivery right first time, on time and in budget
• Lead supplier tendering and negotiating processes, including managing excellence in negotiations, external meetings and contract documentation.
• New factory operations are targeted in the UK, EU and further afield
• Bring excellence from the UK factory to other sites and deliver a new standard of excellence to all operations
• Work with new team members building the company philosophy and culture
Whilst the above is a guide to general expectation of the role, it is expected this position to evolve allowing you greater scope to gain both knowledge and experience within the EC&I role and the wider engineering team.
Requirements:
• Previous experience of at least 5 years (or similar) in a relevant industrial background
• A degree or time served apprenticeship in a relevant Engineering Discipline
• Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with colleagues at all levels
• Experience of Safety Instrumented Systems, design and specification
• Ability to track and manage opex and capex project budgets
• Experience of negotiating contracts and service level agreements
• A history of delivering cost effective, well designed electrical, control and instrumentation projects to programme dates and to budget
• Good working knowledge of current Electrical Regulations, British Standards, Codes of Practices, and Health and Safety regulations (including CDM)
• Flexibility for national and international travel with a full UK driving licence
