Sales Manager - Technical/Engineering

Circa £45,000 per annum (negotiable dependent on experience) + benefits (fully expensed car, healthcare, 1/4ly bonus and pension)

A global player in the world of specialist (engineering) manufacturing seeks to recruit a sales manager who is strong in both direct sales and the management of distributors.  An employer of choice offering outstanding prospects, we are looking for an individual with the capability, energy and drive to help the continued growth of our business in both existing areas as well as developing new market opportunities.

Role Outline:

  • Directly responsible for the sales to specified major accounts
  • Identifies, develops and generates sales specific  to key industries 
  • Achieves sales targets as agreed with Director of Sales
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of product portfolio and capabilities.  Keeps abreast of competitor activity, market trends and customer requirements
  • Maintains close liaison with distributors and agents in assigned territories
  • Develops a robust business plan; identifying short, medium and long term sales opportunities
  • Manages overall sales activity leading up to order placement, including negotiation of prices, deliveries and  key terms
  • Monitor and report on sales activities
  • Travel to customer sites in the UK, Europe and further afield as required

Applicant Requirements:

  • Ideally degree educated (HND/HNC  level as a minimum)
  • Previous experience in a professional sales role essential, with previous export sales experience advantageous
  • Capable to operate in a highly technical market area, previous experience of Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Automotive, Petrochemical or Metals/Materials advantageous
  • Strong negotiating and closing skills
  • Initiative, confidence, enthusiasm, good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Customer focused – self reliant, flexible and resourceful -  able to set high standards

PACKAGE: Starting salary of circa £45K + fully expensed car, BUPA, quarterly bonuses,  pension scheme, life insurance, 37 hour week, 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
