We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager with at least 1 year at senior level to be the Registered Manager for a Children's Residential home based in Harlow, Essex. You will hold a QCF Level 5 in childcare or equivalent and have a full UK manual driving licence. You will also have at least 2 years experience working with children.
You will be the Registered Manager for a small four-bedded Children's Home. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of running the home, for medium to long term planned placements. You will ensure young people are supported and prepared to move on to independent living and ensure that high levels of emotional and physical care are applied. You will oversee appropriate activities and comfortable accommodation. You will manage the service of the keyworkers and ensure that all are working accordance with home’s procedures and strategies and in line with The Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
You will be responsible for the management, co-ordination and development of a range of quality services for young people referred and/or accommodated within the home. You will ensure the Home exceeds all standards prescribed within the National Minimum Standards for Children's Homes 2015. You will ensure the young people's needs are met in line with the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes. You will promote the practice of working in partnership with young people, their families, staff and keyworkers and other agencies, in order to meet the needs of young people. You will provide effective leadership by implementing organisational strategies, in order to enable the objectives of the home to be achieved. You will promote team development and effective team working and maximise the effectiveness of staff through motivation, development and the application of policies. You will take the lead in setting standards and evaluating achievements; to take a proactive role in securing improvements in the quality of services provided and contribute to the development of corporate policies and service initiatives, aimed at improving the service provided.
As the Registered Manager you will set and review targets and objectives for the home’s staff team in order to ensure that work is focused and has clear direction. You will provide operational management of the staff team and to deploy appropriate staff resources in order that key tasks are fulfilled. You will ensure that sufficient back up resources are available in emergency/out of hours situations including participation in an out of hours ‘On-Call’ rota. You will have line management responsibilities for a staff team, ensuring that all staff receive appropriate induction, supervision and appraisal. You will be responsible for ensuring a full flow of information into and out of the team and to develop effective communication strategies and systems which assist staff in the operation of their duties.
