Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer based in Burnley. Working within the automotive industry, we are looking for someone to work with suppliers to develop and implement best practices that emphasise defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements. 

Ensuring that all products produced meet the required quality standards to minimise quality costs and maximise customer satisfaction is a key part of this role. 

The main responsibilities of the Supplier Quality Engineer are:

• To report on supplier product quality and performance
• To ensure supplier process capabilities are effective to meet product and process requirements
• To analyse quality and reliability data using statistical process control (SPC) methods 
• To implement and Audit corrective actions regarding quality issues
• To assist in new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
• To assist in the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
• To perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues
• To provide accurate documentation of inspection results defined by industry regulations
• PPAP approvals
• Performing onsite supplier visits (Root Cause Analysis/Supplier Quality Issues)
• Promotion of continuous improvement – Lean and Six-Sigma 

The ideal Supplier Quality Engineer:

• Manufacturing/Engineering Degree or equivalent 
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a confident and professional approach
• Understanding the importance of team structure and contributing to problem solving
• Automotive industry knowledge and quality standards is desired
• A proven experience of successfully working within an engineering focused environment
• Understanding and interpreting of engineering drawings
• Ability to collate and evaluate quality data in order to improve opportunities within the supply chain
