Job Description

Product and Applications Support Engineer

The Product and Applications Support Engineer will consult and advise Commercial Teams and specified customers on fault finding and trouble-shooting. They will also take advantage of potential sale and rental of our client's products and applications by assisting Commercial Team members, BDMs and the Rental Team. This role will support the entire international arena for all products and applications.

Essential Product and Applications Support Engineer duties/principal responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support by phone, internet media or in person to sales and rental functions
  • Administer and review submittal documents prepared for customers by an application engineer
  • Perform hydraulic calculations to determine performance
  • Review product specifications with engineers
  • Provide product and application training to local sales teams and customers as needed
  • Troubleshoot performance issues with rental equipment
  • Perform customer and site visits with sales and rental personnel if necessary and answer technical questions for employees and customers, advising on care and repair and identifying additional opportunities for growth and to optimise on customer service
  • Commission repair, service and modify when necessary all types of equipment as provided
  • Prepare and produce concise and comprehensive reports for all visits after each visit and discuss remedies/actions with manager
  • Provide assistance to field technicians during job startups
  • To prepare detailed lists from time to time of components and estimates of times necessary for the repair of equipment
  • Play an active role in the safety culture of the company ensuring the safety of yourself and the safety of others that could be affected by your acts or omissions at all times
  • Highlight any safety concerns to the relevant person

Additional Product and Applications Support Engineer responsibilities:

  • Assist where required in the training of CT service engineers and other personnel including customers as directed by instruction, demonstration or other means as required e.g. Pumps 101 Technical Course, routine repairs and maintenance etc

Product and Applications Support Engineer key competencies:

  • Professional membership of recognised engineering body or equivalent as appropriate to location
  • Thorough understanding of fluid hydraulics
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical wiring diagrams and comprehensive drawings
  • General knowledge of diesel engines (and Tier 4/5)  
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritise, meet deadlines and work independently with initiative in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate and build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation

Qualifications/skills/experience:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent /Qualified By Experience
  • Pumps 101 – Applications and Technical
  • Good Maths, English, IT, Physics to GCSE B+ standard

Additional information:

  • The successful candidate will hold a full driving licence/have own transport
  • Requirement to travel both UK internationally (c50%) at short notice
  • High level of manual dexterity and mobility
