JOB DESCRIPTION: TAX TEAM MANAGER
Primary role:
-
Complete complex tax returns and accounts without supervision and be first point of contact for clients on a day to day basis.

Manage, motivate and provide training for supervisors and other team members and act as a technical expert in a particular area / discipline. Assist Tax Consultants in ad-hoc projects.
Key responsibilities:

Able to carry out all aspects of a Tax Senior role as required.

Review and supervise team member’s work providing timely, consistent and constructive
feedback on an informal basis and through PDRs.

Develop good working relationships with clients and team members.

Assist in recruitment & selection, management and training of team members.

Liaise with Head of Personal Tax regarding performance of the team and other issues,
managing employee relations issues that arise with guidance from HR.

Raise bills on portfolio and as directed by Head of Personal Tax / Partner.

Update Head of Personal Tax / Partner on a regular basis and bring to their attention
anything which is not understood or which is inconsistent with expectations.

Fulfil measures of effectiveness and meet competencies set for role.

The Firm reserves the right to require you to perform other duties outside your normal work
duties as the Firm may reasonably require.
Measures of effectiveness:
-
Perform assigned work to set standards ensuring it is suitable to send to a client and ensure the work of team members is also completed to the required standards for their role.

Ensure every client, where appropriate, has been advised by all team members, where applicable, of measures they can take to reduce their Tax liability.

Complete 1200 chargeable hours per year.

Delegate work to team to ensure that returns are completed on-time and to budget and
suitable learning opportunities are provided for the team. Ensure Supervisor’s and Seniors
have delegated workload appropriately.

Is regarded by Head of Personal Tax / Partner and other team members as a technically
competent Manager capable of motivating others, designing and managing efficient and
effective internal processes suitable for the team.

Look after 150 – 250 clients as agreed with the Head of Personal Tax.

Attend courses and development opportunities as identified and apply knowledge learned

Ensure team members demonstrate competency using systems correctly providing training
as required.

Track own progress against the above measures and flag up any gaps to Head of Personal Tax
/ HR so that these can be addressed in a timely manner.

Continue to develop within role, keeping up to date with all relevant changes and further
develop specialist knowledge and expertise within other specific areas of tax.
