Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Payroll Assistant to join a growing chartered accountants and tax advisers firm. Based in High Wycombe, the successful Payroll Assistant will work at least 2 days per week to earn a salary of £25,000 to £28,000 pro rata, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will join the company’s small, dedicated and highly motivated team where you will have the opportunity to grow and develop according to your abilities. As a Payroll Assistant, your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a varied client portfolio from small to medium sized companies
  • Ensuring effective and efficient workflow to meet deadlines
  • Processing starters and leavers, including termination payments
  • Maintaining personal data
  • Calculation of SMP, SSP, SPP
  • Auto Enrolment
  • Ensuring all payroll reports are generated and filed electronically to HMRC
  • Preparation and electronic filing of End of Year reports
  • Regularly contacting clients by either email or telephone
  • Chasing documentation as required
  • Ensuring accurate and timely service for clients at all times

To be considered for the Payroll Assistant position you must have significant previous payroll experience. In addition, you must have the following key skills and experience:

  • Experience in running multiple payrolls
  • Experience using Sage payroll
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A highly-systematised approach/nature
  • Excellent IT skills
  • A thorough eye for detail
  • Ability to carry out repetitive tasks to a very high level of accuracy
  • A “can do” positive approach
  • Ability to work additional hours during busy periods
  • Friendly and personable nature
  • Professional manner and accountable/responsible
  • Auto Enrolment experience is advantageous

Additional information: Pay and benefits (pro rata) include 20 days annual leave plus 1½ days additional leave over Christmas, an additional day of annual leave per full year of service up to 5 additional days, 8 Public holidays pa, company pension scheme and free on-site parking.
