Job Description

This is a fabulous opportunity to join a well-established, traditional yet modern hotel based in Romsey.  This role would suit somebody who has excellent people skills, ensuring guests have an enjoyable stay by giving them the knowledge they are in safe hands overnight.

 

Previous experience as a night porter is not necessary as full training will be given, but you should be happy to work alone and make decisions as and when necessary.  A shift pattern of four-on, four-off is in operation, with a competitive salary offered.

 

Applicants should have a good understanding of English, and be able to communicate well with the Hotel team and customers.

 

A room is available for the successful applicant to stay after their shifts, but this is not compulsory.  Being able to drive is an advantage due to the location of the hotel.

 

Essential requirements:  The successful Night Porter will have:

  • A warm friendly approach to customers

  • A passion for customer service

  • The ability to work alone and make appropriate decisions when needed

  • A good understanding of English

  • The ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers

  • A ‘can-do’ attitude.

The duties of the Night Porter are:

  • Welcoming late customers - checking in and allocating rooms

  • Dealing with customer requests

  • Following health and safety procedures, including regular fire and safety walks on every shift

  • Ensuring customers have an enjoyable overnight stay by keeping noise to a minimum

  • Writing a clear hand-over for the next shift

  • Informing line manager and team colleagues of any problems

  • Supporting cleaning rooms if required

  • Assisting colleagues as and when required

  • Setting up the room for breakfast

  • Serving food as required (generally sandwiches only)

  • Assisting in setting up the hotel for functions or events.

 

Salary: £8.00 per hour

Benefits:  Free car parking, 28 days holidays including Bank Holidays – pro rata.

Hours of Work: 11:00pm to 7:30 am with 30 minutes break – 4 days on, 4 days off.

 

This role would suit someone with previous experience as: Hotel Porter, Hotel Night Porter, Hotel Receptionist, Concierge, Night Concierge, Night Supervisor.
