Job Description

Our client is an academy dedicated to providing high quality and professional Legal and IT apprenticeships. They are work in partnership with employers and further education colleges to provide relevant and valuable training to develop the future generation of professionals. We are looking to appoint a full time Legal Tutor/Assessor for our Birmingham Academy on a permanent basis.

The Individual

  • Experience within the legal sector in private practice and/or experience as a tutor and/or assessor in relation to legal qualifications (essential) - they will consider a qualified solictor maybe looking for a change without any teaching experience

  • Experience of training and assessing and hold a PTTLS or teaching qualification in addition to assessing qualifications (desirable)

  • The role may suit a junior qualified solicitor, CILEx lawyer, or experienced paralegal.

Job Description

  • Delivering and assessing competence and knowledge units

  • Coaching in the workplace, providing guidance and training linked to the learners’ job role and the Apprenticeship programme

  • Reviewing learners’ progress every 6-8 weeks, including update of ILP’s

  • Assessing learners’ Work Based Evidence and portfolio work using a variety of assessment tools, ensuring a smart, holistic approach is adopted

  • Ensuring that all administrative requirements are followed so that the progress of each learner is readily available to colleagues, employers and learners

  • Ensuring learners’ outcomes are achieved on time

  • Client reporting

  • Compliance with internal quality systems, processes and required timescales

  • Responding promptly and efficiently to requests for internal and/or external audits

  • Designing, producing and reviewing materials to support learners

  • Based at our offices in Birmingham, but required to travel to other venues (primarily in the Midlands) as required

  • Reporting to LMPQ’s Legal Curriculum Manager.
