Job Description

LEGAL SECRETARY

COVENTRY, WEST MIDLANDS

UP TO £20,000 and free car parking (35 hour week)

This long established, Lexcel accredited, law firm has an immediate vacancy for a Legal Secretary to join their busy office in Coventry.  As Legal Secretary, you will be involved in all aspects of providing secretarial and administrative support for fee earners in Private client, litigation, but with a leaning towards conveyancing and therefore conveyancing experience is desirable.

The key aspects to this legal secretarial role are:

  • Produce accurate and professional documents from audio digital dictation (Lexacom) as well as using initiative to compile personalised letters and forms
  • Open and make up new client files and ensure they are filed correctly
  • Plan and maintain diary and follow up system  for conveyancing  support team
  • Greet clients and provide refreshments and assistance with form filling
  • Liaise with accounts department to ensure payment of invoices and paying in cheques

The skills required for this varied legal secretary role:

  • Excellent secretarial and administration skills with accurate digital audio typing (minimum speed 60 wpm)
  • Ideally previous experience of working as a Legal Secretary within a conveyancing department but this is not essential as training in conveyancing could be provided
  • Alternatively this role may suit a Medical Secretary as the skills such as confidentiality and accurate typing are similar
  • Knowledge of law and legal procedures especially related to conveyancing e.g. land searches, stamp duties, anti-money laundering, would be useful but not essential
