Legal Cashier

Location: Outskirts of Blackheath

Salary: £26,000 salary negotiable per annum

Our client, a successful Blackheath based Solicitors, are seeking an experienced full-time Legal Cashier to support the Head Cashier in the provision of accurate and timely processing of financial transactions by providing competent and effective legal cashiering duties.

 

 

MAIN DUTIES FOR THE LEGAL CASHIER:

 

  • Using the firm’s case management system for all postings
  • Completing daily bank reconciliation of cashbook to bank account
  • Ensuring that Land Registry disbursements are posted accurately and in a timely manner enabling teams to bill their clients effectively
  • Informing teams when there are insufficient funds on the ledger to cover the disbursements
  • Checking for money received into client account, processing and posting to the correct client ledger
  • Communicating the receipt of client monies to fee earners and teams in a timely manner
  • Posting to the client ledger any bacs / chaps / fpcs / international payments and making payments in the Bank
  • Managing and processing card machine payments
  • Monitoring Accounts email in-box to extract all emails relating to client account and deal with them appropriately
  • Posting to the client ledger all incoming client account cheques
  • Placing client funds on and take funds off deposit account
  • Liaising with conveyancing teams with regard to any completions
  • To process and record all financial transactions in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and the firm’s internal policies

 

PERSON SPEC FOR THE LEGAL CASHIER:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a busy legal practice
  • Good ICT skills including Microsoft Office package
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Numerate, efficient, methodical and trustworthy
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Professional, proactive and a good team player
  • Helpful, presentable and pleasant nature
  • Good working knowledge of SARs
