Job Description

Lead QA Analyst required, responsible for day-to-day testing of prioritised change delivered through Agile (Scrum). The Lead QA Analyst will play a key role in shaping the testing practices and ensuring quality is at the heart of the product, as per the Agile ethos.

Working as an integrated member of the team you will be interfacing with developers, business analysts, customer representatives and end users, to ensure development work meets specifications and is delivered to the highest quality within the sprint timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate with the team in agile planning, reviews and retrospectives
  • Develop and contribute estimates of testing effort to estimation meetings for backlog items
  • Understand business requirements, specifications and acceptance criteria; review for quality and testability
  • Collaborate with developers, Product Owners, end users and others, to understand the technical risks; end user context, workflow and priorities
  • Design tests under own direction, using own in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non functional specifications and acceptance criteria
  • Execute, record and analyse test results, identify and report defects, issues and risks associated with own work
  • Produce/update regression test packs to test new and amended software or services
  • Identify areas for improvement of product quality and sprint outcomes; work with the team to implement improvements
  • Ensure the best available approaches, techniques and assets are applied
  • Mentor and coach less experienced team members in testing approaches and techniques
  • Develop and improve assets and knowledge artifacts that improve testing effectiveness and efficiency

  • Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a strong profile within an Agile team
  • Awareness and understanding of structured testing techniques and how to apply them
  • Ability to think about testing in terms of priorities and risk (business and technical) and develop a testing approach to suit
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience leading QA teams of 3 or more (or potential to lead)
  • Experience in coaching and mentorship


  • Demonstrable software testing experience
  • Proven leadership skills
