HR Generalist - c£32-36k – Swansea


This new opening will suit someone with at least three years experience in an HR Generalist / HR Advisor role who thrives on working in a challenging but rewarding department.   This particular facility produces materials for the aerospace, automotive and energy markets.  Our culture is fast-paced, dynamic and direct with an expectation of high performance from every employee.  All our employees share responsibility to maintain the highest legal and ethical standards. Role Outline:

Reporting to the on site HR Business Partner who in turn reports to Group HR, the HR Generalist will be responsible for providing a proactive HR Generalist service at the site of 400 employees on HR and L&D related matters including Recruitment & Selection; Employee Relations and Communications; Disciplinary & Grievance; Attendance and Absence Management; Performance Management and Development; Succession Planning; Employee Engagement; and Compliance.


  • Under the direction of the HR Business Partner be the point of contact for all HR related queries at the site and h

  • Inform and consult with employees/unions as required on all employee relations matters

  • Manage recruitment and selection from requisition to hire

  • Manage interviews by telephone and in person along with online testing and assessment centres

  • Manage temporary labour including liaison with external agencies

  • Organise induction training programmes and to deliver the HR element to new recruits

  • Design and deliver training on core policies as directed by the HRD/Group HR

  • Assist with the Management of absenteeism; Manage referrals of ongoing medicals and liaison with the Occupational Health Advisor

  • Understand company policies and procedures and help create guidelines where none currently exist

  • Manage any investigations and disciplinary/grievance matters as required up to and including dismissal

  • HR reporting (weekly / monthly)

  • Advise on other employment mattersand counsel employees on work related problems

  • Work with and coach managers when completing performance reviews and performance management

  • Support site Employee Engagement initiatives

  • Support site talent pipeline programmes including apprentices, technical, management, financial and commercial programmes

  • Support Managers to design employee development and succession plans

  • Will provide holiday cover for HR Systems Administrator



  • Graduate (desirable), CIPD qualified or studying towards this qualification essential

  • Minimum 3 years experience in an HR generalist role in a fast paced, results driven business – Ideally within a manufacturing (or similar) environment

  • Strong practical working knowledge of employment law

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong communicator

  • Can work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

  • Ambitious and MUST be a team player

  • PC Literate

  • SAP HCM preferred but not essential

  • Experience of working in a union environment is preferred.


    About The Benefits:  Basic annual salary of £32-36k+ benefits.   Working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday.
