Head of Health & Safety & Quality

Redditch• up to £45k  • Permanent

We are looking to recruit for the position of ‘Head of Health, safety and Quality’ to oversee our busy Safety, Health and Quality (SHQ) department and ensure compliance with relevant industry legislation.

As Head of SHQ, you will be responsible for ensuring that Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance standards within the Company are upheld to the highest level and that all site staff are fully trained and competent.  You will be responsible for the supervision of three SHQ team members.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years previous experience working within a similar role and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as having sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.  Proven knowledge and qualifications in both Health and Safety and Quality are required however, additional training for the position will be provided as required.  In addition, previous experience of working in the construction industry would be an advantage.

Day to Day Duties       

  • Monitoring of Health & Safety on all Company construction sites and at Head Office
  • Maintain all records relating to Health & Safety, QA System, Training and Subcontractor Competency.
  • Ensure staff competency by identifying training requirements, and ensuring training is undertaken
  • Organise and formulate information for Company Health & Safety Meetings
  • Produce Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans and compile Building Files on commencement and completion of projects
  • Completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires
  • Subcontractor approval and competency assessment
  • Maintain all records relating to Health & Safety, QA System, Training and Subcontractor Competency.
  • Responsible for maintenance and review of Quality Management System
  • Conduct internal compliance audits
  • Control of Non-conformance
  • Organise and formulate information for QAS Meetings and Annual Management Review Meetings
  • Responsible for compliance with GDPR Regulations
  •  Accident reporting and investigation
  • Liaise with external Health and Safety Consultants

Knowledge

  • NEBOSH General Certificate / NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • QMS Internal auditing qualification
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM requirements
  • A good working knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Previous experience of working with a main contractor
  • Must possess Health & Safety/Quality experience, preferably within a construction background
  • Experience of site safety auditing
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
