Job Description

A well-established, successful specialist sub- contractor based in Essex is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its senior management team.

The role reports directly into the MD and would suit someone with significant experience within the demolition / construction arena accustomed to working on projects ranging from £50,000 - £500,000, mainly East Anglia / South East based but not exclusively.

This Estimator role is a hands-on role and would suit someone who enjoys dealing with a varied project portfolio from the initial stages of pricing/bid proposal through to completion. Is commercially astute and would thrive in a busy and demanding environment. You'll be a natural problem solver who is happy to be accountable for contracts and of course, very comfortable dealing with a broad spectrum of duties as the demands of projects dictate.

In return, the role offers an excellent basic salary in the region of c£55,000 + full benefits package. Salary is negotiable for the ideal person.

As Estimator your main areas of responsibility will include the following:-

Main duties:-

  • Devising working methods and programmes
  • Reviewing and assisting with bids and management of administration for all projects
  • Preparation/management of detailed risk assessments and method statements
  • Monitor and manage the entire contract from the initial visit through to completion
  • Providing assistance to the Managing Director as required in all business development activities especially relating to technically complex contracts
  • Undertake desktop studies/analysis
  • Liaising with in-house management and site managers to ensure that the needs of the activities of complex projects are understood and are incorporated into the relevant policies, procedures and integrated management system
  • To ensure compliance and adherence to contractual obligations, in relation to all Health & Safety issues, including risk assessments and method statements
  • Be responsible for maintaining client relations, resolving client-related problems and developing opportunities as appropriate
  • Attending sites to review progress
  • Advising all interested parties on project progress
  • Assisting the team with problem-solving to deliver contracts according to schedule/ budget and providing specialist technical input as required

The ideal candidate

  • The ideal candidate will have significant exposure to broad technical / multi-site contract management
  • Experience within the demolition /construction industry for a contractor or sub-contractor, which should include responsibility for meeting deadlines and reporting on progress
  • Previous experience of managing projects ranging from £50,000 to £500,000
  • Detail orientated, systems savvy, accurate, excellent communication skills and must be able to work confidently alone and as part of a team
  • Organisational and creative problem-solving skills are essential
  • Commercially aware with strong negotiation skills

Qualifications

NEBOSH and or MIDE an advantage, training will be offered where necessary
