Job Description

Designer/Project Manager required on a permanent basis. Up to 29k pa basic salary + attractive commission package, private healthcare, free parking, rural location near Hook. Please note that you must be a driver due to location.

Our client is a well-established timber frame manufacturer of high quality frames, trussed rafters and engineered joists. They are now looking for a Designer/Project Manager to join their team and work on varied and interesting bespoke projects (mainly residential) for a quality fast-track building system. 

As the Designer/Project Manager you will be:

• Gathering new customers from enquiries
• Estimating and quoting for projects
• Designing project work either won by yourself or secured centrally in the department:
- Using Autodesk Revit with a 3rd party plug-in: Horizon from Wolf Systems
- Taking a design from customers’ concept drawings, through Approval sets, to Construction Issue
- Liaising with client or their design team, and with our 3rd party Engineers
• Issuing manufacture drawings and material-picking schedules to on-site frame fabricators and off-site steel fabricators
• Administering production data, work values and dates for deliveries
• Issuing installation drawings to site installers
• Managing the installation of the project and liaising with erectors
• Managing the technical handover

To succeed as the Designer/Project Manager you will have:

• Experience within a system-build environment (e.g. timber frame, SIPS, light gauge steel, light steel frame, modular buildings etc) 
• A good understanding of the issues involved in working in the offsite construction industry and also within the manufacturing process
• Excellent relationship building skills, both with your colleagues and your clients 
• The ability to understand the needs of your clients, who may require considerable support from someone with your knowledge and experience
• Experience of timber frame design
• Experience using Revit (desirable)
