TELEPHONE INTERVIEWS ARE BEING SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY
Client: New startup compliance consultancy with strong financial backing
Location: London (candidate can work very flexibly)
Salary: £80-100,000 + biannual bonus and end of year bonus + pension + health
Start Date: as soon as possible (the business already has client)
My client, co-founder of a new startup compliance consultancy is looking for a 'number two' to help build this new business in the London market, with the intention of taking on clients globally in the years to come.
The business has strong financial backing - it does not need to make any money within the first 18 months even with a headcount of 7-8 employees.
Since opening its doors only months ago this business has already signed clients. This is mostly thanks to the business' financial backers who have extensive networks in the UK market. The founder has their own extensive network which they will also draw upon.
The type of candidate my client is looking for is someone who is not your typical compliance box-ticking type. We are looking for someone who has a client facing personality with diverse regulatory knowledge and expertise - a pragmatic type who will work in partnership with a client's business as opposed to being 'preventative'.
The personality fit is extremely important as my client views this opening as the person who 'will help build the business together'.
There is potentially equity available to the successful candidate but I have advised my client that this may not be as attractive as the bonus structure already mentioned. However everything is negotiable as this is a startup/entrepreneurial type business despite being very well backed.
My client has stated that the successful candidate can expect to work very flexibly (post pandemic) and may only need to come to London once a week for client meetings or otherwise. Of course this is subject to change but my client is setting up the business in such a way that any new employees will be remote for the foreseeable/permanently.
Someone who can:
- roll their sleeves up and 'do the work'
- engage with stakeholders at all levels and nurture relationships
- produce concise and succinct reports/findings for the client guidance (no long and dull reports).
- BE EFFECTIVE - lightweight, dynamic and fast in thinking and movement
Ideally this person would:
- have been Head of Compliance (CF10/SMF16) in the past
- have come from another consultancy
- be looking for an opportunity to build something new and exciting that challenges the status quo of traditional consultancy businesses
