Claims Team Leader - Basingstoke based, salary up to £37,000
The Claims Team Leader is responsible for a team of up to 10 Claims Handlers, ensuring that all claims are dealt with effectively and reducing costs to the business where possible as well as recovering costs from various parties.
The claims team manage claims from "cradle to grave" and instructing Loss Adjuster's and solicitor's when appropriate including litigation.
You will liaise with solicitors and Loss Adjusters, giving instructions on pre and post litigated cases, including Employer's Liability and Public Liability.
The Job Role
" Providing support to the Claims Manager for historic disease liabilities and high value claims.
" To manage a team of 9 Claims Handlers, including objective setting for the Claims Unit staff, assessing an annual bonus for each team member, appraisals and any staff training/development.
" To assist in identifying and maintaining a record of historic insurers covering the various Regional Gas Boards, allowing recovery of claims settlements from insurers on high value and potentially uninsured pre-demerger Disease claims (e.g. Asbestosis, Mesothelioma).
" Acting as cheque signatory for all payments up to £10,000.
" To provide advice, informal and formal training on claims handling to business units and other support functions as required.
The ideal Person needs to have previous experience in a similar working environment or within the claims unit of an insurance company, Have Experience of various classes of insurance claims (public liability and employer's liability (including disease claims) is desirable.
Have a thorough knowledge of the legal process and legislation surrounding claims.
Understand good housekeeping for data protection and information security requirements.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrating empathy with customers and colleagues.
Able to manage own time effectively and without constant supervision.
Ability to prioritise workload.
