Job Description

Our client, based in Fleet, is looking for a Business Deveopment Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis ASAP! This is a fabulous opportunity for a self-motivated, proactive sales person with technical experience because 70% of the role is business development and 30% is account management. Coverage is UK-wide and you must be based within a commutable distance of Fleet because you'll be in the office around 4 or 5 days a month. Starts ASAP.

As a Business Development Engineer, you will be:

  • Securing orders from existing and potential customers by means of utilizing distributors, visiting customer facilities, and through follow up efforts on leads generated from advertising, trade shows or other market means
  • Investigating new industries for client's products and their related customer potential
  • Establishing and maintaining professional customer relationships with decision makers at existing accounts, establishing new relationships with potential customers and with existing competitor accounts
  • Maintaining knowledge of competitive products, suppliers, and distribution
  • Promoting product offerings through distributor network, OEM and end user sales presentations and distribution of product literature
  • Writing proposals, issues quotations, and determining pricing discounts, and follows-up quotation by phone or visit
  • Developing sales plan by distributor and product line, monitoring forecasts/actual sales, planning and scheduling sales calls, conducting prospect analysis, and tracking customer orders and monitoring delivery times
  • Monitoring distributor sales activity on a weekly basis. Developing market analysis on a yearly and as needed basis
  • Compiling and providing Market Matrix and Pipeline Report
  • Preparing expense, vehicle and trip reports, and documenting customer activity in
  • Representing client at trade shows
  • Preparing sales presentations to support products and distribution
  • Developing project specifications to aid consulting engineers. Consulting with engineering firms in an effort to promote usage of products in upcoming projects

Preferred Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical, marketing, or business field or equivalent technical, sales, or marketing experience is required
  • Previous sales experience, ideally in a field sales position, is essential
  • Must have own transport - a car allowance is provided
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Access
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and driven
  • 1 - 2 years related post-degree experience in the HP pump industry and/or other pump industry would be highly desirable
