Bookkeeper – Chartered Accountancy

Circa £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience)

Camberley, Surrey

An independent firm of Chartered Accountants, acting for almost 800 clients ranging from high net worth individuals to large corporations, are now looking to appoint an experienced bookkeeper to head up a busy management accounts and VAT bureau.

Reporting to a Practice Partner, this is a hands-on bookkeeping role, where you will be responsible for your own client portfolio, alongside additional responsibilities for co-ordinating and assisting a small bookkeeping team.

With a portfolio of multiple clients, including some of our more complex accounts, you will be responsible for:

  • Bookkeeping up to trial balance and underlying control account reconciliations (enabling direct flow into monthly management accounts and end of year accounts prepared by the firm)
  • Preparation of VAT calculations and VAT returns (Intrastat knowledge essential)
  • Completing CIS returns
  • Planning and directing workload of bookkeeping team to ensure deadlines are met, escalating to partners as required and interacting with in-house accounts teams

This is a full time roll, based from our office in Camberley town centre, occasional travel to client premises may be required (car driver preferred, pool car available)

About You

  • Previous experience of bookkeeping in an accounting practice
  • Competent user of SAGE line 50 essential, a working knowledge of Xero
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of payroll (although not directly responsible)
  • Self motivated and positive approach to work
  • Customer and team focussed
