Job Description

Curtis Recruitment is recruiting for a qualified Accounts & Audit Senior to join our client’s prestigious practice in Slough.  This role is based within the Accounts Department and the successful candidate will report to the Audit & Accounts Manager.

Carrying out audit and accounting duties for limited companies, sole-traders, partnerships, charities and pension schemes, the main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Plan and run statutory audits
  • Prepare statutory accounts for companies
  • Understand and apply auditing and accounting standards and Companies Act requirements and UK GAAP (FRS 102)
  • Supervise and train junior staff
  • Draft tax computations
  • Draft management letters and reports
  • Preparation of opening balance adjustments to update client accounting software
  • Prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships, including from incomplete records
  • P11Ds
  • Management accounting
  • Ad hoc assignments eg due diligence, business planning & management consultancy

To be considered for this position, candidates will satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be educated to degree level (2:1) and be ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Have experience of working in a multi-partner practice, ideally with 1-2 years post qualification experience
  • Able to work within set budget to tight deadlines
  • Ability to supervise others
  • Hold a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Proven interpersonal skills to communicate with partners, clients and colleagues, including the ability to explain technical problems in a clear and straightforward manner without the use of jargon
  • Strong written communication skills for report generation and letter writing
  • Proven computer skills; Word, Outlook and Excel along with competency with accountancy packages such as Viztopia, Sage, ProAudit and Quickbooks
  • Ability to work with timesheets
  • Ability to speak fluent French, Spanish or German would be advantageous
