Job Description

The Company and the Role:
The Company is one of the UK’s leading independent Foodservice Wholesalers supplying multi temperature products to foodservice clients throughout the UK. They are currently seeking a Marketing Controller to head up their Marketing function. The client is prepared to be flexible as to the job holders base ideally in an area in the South, close to the M4 corridor or as far North as Birmingham. The position is permanent.
Flexibility is a key element of their customer proposition they believe in going the extra mile to meet their customers’ expectations, whether it be sourcing bespoke products or adding value with quality insight and expertise.
The role reports into the Commercial Director and managing a team of 3, you will be responsible for the full marketing mix including brand development and design, brand partnerships, PR and profile building, content creation, insights, sampling activity, exhibitions, promotional activity and manging the social media strategy.
Key Features of the Role:
Develop and promote brand identity, market position and customer recognition by delivering cost-effective, high-performance technology solutions to meet corporate and market requirements.
Manage, develop and challenge a team of direct reports and a wider team.
Manage all brand marketing activity.
Work closely with digital, commercial and operations team to ensure brand consistency.
Develop and manage implementation of the annual marketing strategy and quarterly     marketing plans.
Key role within the leadership team, senior stakeholder management.

Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Marketing Manager ideally with experience of working within the foodservice, cash and carry or wholesale sector. Our client will also consider candidates with retail food or food manufacturing sector expertise.
You should have brand management experience and able to demonstrate business growth by understanding the relationship between clients, their requirements and the business
You should have Subscriptions / Digital Advertising experience working on developing products and propositions.
You will need energy and outstanding communication and presentational skills.
Your combined knowledge of customer / trade marketing, category insight and commercial planning will equip you to succeed.
Knowledge of ranging, pricing and promotions strategy would be seen as highly advantageous.
You will be quick thinking, highly creative and able to inspire others without direct control but with real influence on the marketing agenda.
Projecting a high degree of professionalism, you will display the confidence needed to influence and win people over at board level.
You will be a dynamic, confident team player, strategic, analytical thinker and should combine excellent inter personal skills with a positive approach to handling pressure.
You will be able to build relationships at all levels with in the business and also with both suppliers and customers.
In addition, you should be PC literate, possess strong influencing and negotiating skills and have experience in benchmarking and delivering Value for Money.
You will be ambitious, enthusiastic and passionate with strong work ethic, you will thrive on change and will enjoy working in an environment with a growth agenda.
