The Company and the Role:
The Company provides radar technologies and capabilities of detecting the smallest of targets in clutter. The Company meets the surveillance, safety and security needs of a large variety of land and sea clients across the globe. Due to continued expansion, they are looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to join the team in North London. This is a full time permanent position.
As a Senior Embedded Engineer your remit will be to design, specify, implement, test and maintain embedded software to support the Company’s products and services
You will use your broad range of skills and character to engage with, encourage and mentor the broad personalities within the team, which will require you to show leadership, problem resolution and able to complete tasks in a timely, informed and calm manner, as well as act as a role model for junior staff.
Using your professional engineering practices to produce embedded software for new, innovative and profitable products and solutions for the business
A really interesting part of the role is, as a technical liaison with internal and external teams on embedded software and products that you are responsible for designing, implementing, testing, maintaining and supporting with customers and suppliers etc.
Key Features of the Role:
The Senior Embedded Engineer will be required to support and enhance existing software in accordance with business requirements.
You will need to act as a role model for junior staff and providing advice and support to less experienced colleagues.
You will be expected to travel within the UK at short notice as an occasional requirement.
You will be reporting to the Field Programmable Gate Array Engineering Manager who will expect you to be able to stand up to scrutiny, as well as utilize all of your and the Company’s assets to achieve the end result in a professional, effective and efficient manner.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Embedded Engineer and able to use your competent knowledge of source control software and defect tracking tools, able to understand the role of software within the wider system context.
You should have excellent embedded C (C++ skills).
You must have a Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject and a strong career tenure working on Embedded Software designs, producing designs on time and to budget, as well as experience on radar or similar related applications.
You will need to have a competent knowledge and understanding of Microblaze/Power PC/ARM processors. As well as TCP/IP/UDP Networking.
You will also need to have a competent knowledge of Flash memory interfaces as well as experience of Xilinx EDK/GNU Tools.
You will be required to have In-circuit and software emulation and System debug at hardware level experience.
Finally, you it would be desirable for you to have CANBus Technologies and C# skills.
