They are currently seeking a Field Sales Manager to manage a team of 8 Terrority Business Development Managers in the Central / Southern belt of England. The position is permanent.
You will be the focus that ensures both national and local sales and communication strategies are being delivered properly to the people who matter – their customers.
It’s a role of astute management and ideas. Everyone in your team is different, as is every single customer, so it’s not about the same message delivered in the same way to every customer.
Training and developing your team, along with regular days spent in the field will keep everyone sharp and will be a key factor in your ability to set targets and increase the business’s profitability.
Not only providing excellent management for your team, you will also be setting it an example, through your own account management successes managing a small number of regional independent customers.
Specifically, you will achieve overall independent sales and margin targets as a minimum standard.
You will train, mentor, develop and motivate the independent sales team to ensure the team work to set standards as agreed.
You will set SMART objectives with the team each month at their business reviews and ensure that these have been actioned.
You will manage effective internal working relationships to achieve business goals.
You will effectively manage poor performance to company standards and timeframes.
You will ensure effective management of all territories during periods of vacancy/long term absence.
You will effectively manage relationships and pricing related to allocated consortia accounts. Finally, you will successfully run regular sales meeting to develop team’s knowledge and awareness in line with company sales targets and objectives.
To succeed in this high profile role, you will need energy, pace and outstanding communication and presentational skills.
You will ideally need to live South of Birmingham and North of the M4.
A proven track record in winning new independent business in a food wholesaling environment is highly desirable as is experience of managing a team of terrority based sales executives. However, our client will consider candidates who have an fmcg, food manufacturing background.
Projecting a high degree of professionalism, you will display the confidence needed to influence and win people over.
Above all, you will possess a real desire to succeed, excelling in leading and coaching a high performing team.
Ambitious, enthusiastic and passionate with strong work ethic, you will thrive on change and will enjoy working in an environment with a growth agenda.
Your motivational and coaching skills should already be proven in a previous role, whilst you also need to demonstrate the character and credibility to operate at the highest level.
A natural confident communicator and negotiator you must understand what it takes to deliver a quality service to business customers and be capable of forging your own sales plans.
You should also possess sound numeracy skills. Organised and able to handle the organisational and strategic elements of the role as well as the people contact.
