Recruiters, Why Should You Target Passive Candidates?
Did you know that 70% of the global workforce are passive candidates? That’s a huge chunk of your audience! People become passive candidates if they are already in a job but are casually open to new opportunities.
Passive candidates can be great for recruiters to target because they can generally be more reliable than active job seekers (not always) and will settle down in a new job role a lot quicker. These types of ‘candidates’ will usually have less competition too because they are not looking for other jobs.
So how can you target passive candidates?
There are a multitude of ways that you could target passive candidates, social media can be a powerful tool to build your brand and be seen by ‘passers by’. Posting regularly will get your job postings in front of more potential candidates. Sharing your company culture, industry news and office updates will all contribute to building your brand too.
Do you have a website? Writing and sharing posts about relevant recruitment news that’s happening right now will mean more people are likely to share your content, which will then be seen by passive candidates.
There are so many ways to target passive candidates in today's world, posting videos to talk about company culture usually gets great engagement on LinkedIn. If you have the marketing budget to do so, you could even run local radio ads if you are trying to target specific locations, passive candidates will probably be listening to the radio on their way to work on a morning! Other ways to target passive candidates could be tv ads or posters that will subconsciously resonate with passive job seekers.
